Diablo 5 Release Date: When Is Diablo V Coming Out?

The announcement at the BlizzCon 2026 opening ceremony ended with exactly one piece of timing: “Coming Spring 2029.” The same words appear on the official website, diablo5.blizzard.com. Blizzard has not committed to anything more specific.

At the “Forging the Next Era” panel that evening, the team put this in context: Diablo V is “still early in development.” Any specific date you see elsewhere is therefore speculation. We take apart common false claims such as “spring 2026” in our rumor check.

Blizzard does not say which months it means. Meteorologically, spring covers March, April and May; astronomically, it runs from the equinox around March 20 to the solstice around June 21. Realistically, that points to a launch somewhere between March and June 2029.

Counting from October 19, 2026, that is roughly two and a half years away. Unlike Diablo IV, which had no release timing at all when Blizzard announced it in 2019, Diablo V came with a window from day one.

The team says the long runway is about feedback. Blizzard’s panel article says that bringing players in early gives the team the opportunity to listen. Zitterman told Shacknews that, now that the game is announced, ideas can be tested more openly – feedback during development rather than at the very end makes for a better game.

None of that rules out a delay. But Blizzard has publicly committed to a window, and Shely told IGN that Diablo V is already in full production. Whether there will be a test phase before launch is covered on our Diablo 5 beta page; the people behind these statements are on the developers page.

Blizzard has set the next fixed point itself: from 2027, the team plans to share regular development updates. Shely told IGN the team wants to continue the conversation with players into 2027, when it will share more. When Blizzard will name platforms or price and editions remains open.

Work behind the scenes became visible on October 14, 2026, when cinematic director Neil David Carter posted “First shoot #Diablo5” on X, along with a photo of an empty studio. The post reveals no date. For comparison: Diablo IV got its exact date, editions and pre-orders together in December 2022, about half a year before launch – whether Blizzard will handle Diablo V the same way is unknown.
