Rage of Morditas
Morditas is free, filled with rage and ready to get his vengeance.
Interact with the Blood Crystal to begin the Rage of Morditas encounter, a timed hunt where you defeat monsters to provide souls to Morditas. As you slay enemies, Morditas gathers the souls of the fallen and grants you both Bloodrage charges, tokens that you can use to claim rewards at the end of the encounter, and powerful Bloodrage buffs to aid you further in the slaughter.
Your timer goes up as you slay enemies, with diminishing returns the more monsters you kill. As you progress the encounter the timer keeps ticking down, eventually reaching zero. When this occurs, Morditas appears near you to summon an arena where he proceeds to Bloodcraft the slain enemies back to life.
Successfully defeating the enemies in the arena awards you with some equippable items, and grants access to the Blood-filled Crystal. Inside this Crystal lies the rewards of the ritual you have just performed, yielding powerful rewards and three options to interact with those rewards - Claim an item, or perform Frozen or Bloody Rituals.
Each of these three options requires spending a Bloodrage charge, which are obtained during the first phase of the encounter.
Should you run out of Bloodrage charges, you can complete another encounter and find the same set of rewards waiting for you, as the ritual rewards persist through areas and only provide new rewards when claiming a reward or performing rituals.
In the Ritual reward window you start with five different rewards. You can then select any of these five rewards to either claim it, or to perform a sacrificing ritual on it. Performing a ritual will empower the next set of rewards, yielding better rewards on average.
Claiming the reward consumes one Bloodrage charge and grants you the item. The Ritual rewards then start from the beginning, with another new five options. Any empowerment your ritual had is also removed.
Performing the Frozen Ritual sacrifices the marked item to reroll and empower the ritual for better rewards. Rewards after using the Frozen Ritual can only include items of the same item type, such as boots, and one of the rewards will be the same subtype as the sacrificed item if possible. Forgeable items are granted a new type of Ice Forging Potential that has higher chance to preserve Forging Potential when crafting.
Performing the Bloody Ritual sacrifices the marked item to reroll and empower the ritual for better rewards. Rewards after using the Bloody Ritual cannot include the same item type, such as boots. Forgeable items are granted a new type of Blood Forging Potential that has higher chance to critically success when crafting.
If an exclusive Bloodrage unique item is one of the reward options, it won't be rerolled to a new item, instead the rituals will have a significant impact on the item. Frozen Ritual rerolls its special affixes, and Bloody Ritual either adds Legendary Potential to the item or corrupts it, if it's not yet corrupted.
As you defeat more Bloodcrafted enemies, Morditas' rage grows stronger, and unlocks additional Rage of Morditas encounters through the Nexus, leading all the way to the Circle of Frozen Blood, where you may challenge Morditas himself.
Each of these unique encounters can be scaled in difficulty and rewards through Anger that grows naturally as you complete encounters. You can also lower the Anger to make the encounters easier, but less rewarding.
