The Blood of Dawnwalker: Release Date, Editions and Everything We Know

What it is

The Blood of Dawnwalker is a narrative dark fantasy RPG from Rebel Wolves, a studio built from veterans who previously worked on The Witcher 3, published by Bandai Namco. You play Coen in Vale Sangora — a 14th-century European region ruled by the vampire lord Brencis.

Unlike Diablo or Path of Exile, this is not about loot spirals and seasons but a single story with consequences. For RaidDex that means builds here are skill tree decisions and playstyle, not endgame optimisation.

Release and platforms

  • Release date: 3 September 2026
  • Platforms: PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S
  • Unlock: midnight CEST — that is the evening of 2 September in North America, which is why some sources list that date
  • Preload: 48 hours before release on Steam and consoles
  • Languages: 15, German included

The time system: 30 days, 30 nights

The game's headline mechanic. Brencis gives Coen roughly 30 days and 30 nights to save his family. Each day and each night consists of eight time units — that is the currency the game actually spends.

For anyone already feeling the pressure: time only moves on clearly marked actions. Wandering the world, exploring ruins or sorting your inventory costs nothing. And the limit is not a game over — it only applies to rescuing the family. If it runs out, the game unlocks different content instead.

The appeal is that you cannot do everything. Some events proceed without you. The game is built around the question of what you spent your nights on.

Day and night: human or vampire

By day Coen is human and fights with swords, fists and hex magic. By night he becomes the Dawnwalker — claws, bite, supernatural movement and blood hunger.

This is not cosmetic: almost every quest has multiple solutions depending on whether you approach it by day as a human or by night as a vampire. That is where guides get interesting — one task, two entirely different routes.

The three skill trees

Coen has no class choice. Instead there are three skill trees:

  • Human — swordplay, weapons, human abilities
  • Vampire — supernatural powers, blood skills
  • Shared — skills that apply in both forms

You spend points on active abilities and passive bonuses, leaning into the human swordsman, the vampire predator, or a hybrid. This is the foundation of every build we will document from release onwards.

Editions and pre-order bonus

There are four editions: Standard, Eclipse, Day One and Collector's. All contain the complete game.

Worth knowing: the Eclipse Edition adds no additional in-game content — it bundles a compendium, the soundtrack and a prequel comic. If you just want to play, Standard serves you equally well. The Collector's Edition adds physical items: a textured world map of Vale Sangora (33 × 40 cm), a PureArts Coen figurine (23 cm) and a printed world compendium.

Pre-orders of any edition unlock the Sangoran Wayfarer's Armor Set early.

What we do not know yet

Honestly: most of what matters for builds. How many skill points exist in total, how deep the trees go, how gear and stats work, whether respeccing is possible — none of that can be answered reliably before launch.

We will update this guide at release and start building the skill and item database once the game is out.
