When does Update 1.1 release?
The Blood of Dawnwalker Update 1.1 is planned for the week of October 19, 2026. Rebel Wolves revealed the contents on October 16 with an overview graphic on its official X account and said the update is coming the following week. The studio has not yet named an exact date or published full patch notes, and the announcement mentions no platform differences – only the change to the Japanese version explicitly concerns Steam.

New features in Update 1.1
The biggest addition is a full respec. The Draught of Mind Rebirth lets Coen forget every Swordmastery, Witchcraft and Vampirism ability he has learned and put that time into a different set of abilities instead. Rebuilding a character no longer means starting over – the trees are listed on our skills page, and a new setup can be tested in the build planner first.

Story mode and subtitles
There will be two easier difficulty settings: Forgiving is the former Story difficulty, and the new Story mode adds extra combat assist. Subtitles get a larger font size option and can be enabled for every dialogue line.
Petting dogs and cats
Coen can now pet dogs and cats. Rebel Wolves ties it to the game's directional combat with a wink: "Directional. Animal. Petting."
Combat, camera and technical improvements
Beyond the new features, Update 1.1 mainly reworks how combat and traversal feel.
- FrameGen: updated frame generation technology with dedicated settings.
- Camera: adjusted animations and camera movement in combat.
- Combat: improved targeting, locking onto and disengaging from enemies.
- Traversal: Shadowstep and Planeshift respond better when targeting and attaching to surfaces.
- Japanese version: blood and gore will no longer be censored in the Japanese Steam version.
- Fixes: more than 1,100 other improvements and fixes.
