Basic Controls
Move with Move Forward Move Left Move Backward Move Right.
Rotate camera with Camera.
Press Sprint to Sprint.

You can Attack in four directions: left, right, upwards, or downwards. Attacking costs Stamina.
Press Attack to Omniattack. Omniattack's Direction is randomised.
You can choose the Attack Direction manually. Press Attack after selecting the Direction (upwards Move Forward, downwards Move Backward, left Move Left, right Move Right).
Enemies have a chance to Block your Attack. The chance of Blocking increases if you repeatedly strike from the same Attack Direction.
Hold Block to Omniblock. Omniblock negates incoming damage from any direction but costs Stamina.
You can Block attacks from four directions: left, right, top, or bottom.
Hold Block and choose a direction with Move Forward Move Left Move Backward Move Right to Block Directionally.
Successful Directional Blocks don't consume stamina.
On Story, Fair and Challenging difficulties, the around the shows in which direction you should Block.
Perfect Blocks restore some Stamina and leave the enemy open to your Attacks.
While holding Block, choose the Block Direction with Move Forward Move Left Move Backward Move Right just before you get hit to perform a Perfect Block.
On Story, Fair, and Challenging difficulties, the right timing is indicated by changing to .
Omniblock and Attacks consume Stamina.
When you run out of Stamina, you become Fatigued, which makes your attacks slower and less effective.
Active Abilities can be used in combat to gain a tactical advantage.
While in combat, hold Active Ability Wheel to bring up the Ability selection. Select an Active Ability and press Select to trigger it. You can also assign Active Abilities to Quickslots and use them with Left Quickslot, Top Quickslot, Right Quickslot, or Bottom Quickslot.
Triggering an Active Ability costs Activation Charges . Witchcraft and Vampirism Abilities also cost Health.
Only equipped Abilities can be used in combat. You can equip them in the Active Abilities panel.
Some Abilities are Passive. While they trigger only when certain conditions are met and don't have a cost, they still need to be equipped to work.
Witchcraft Abilities can be used only in the Human form, as the Magical Sigil carvings heal up at Night.
Vampirism Abilities can be used only in the Vrakhiri form.
Swordmastery Abilities can be used anytime.
Activation Charges are required to use both Active Abilities and Weapon and Claw Arts.
Activation Charges regenerate over time. Successful Blocks and Attacks speed up the recharge time.
At the start of your journey you have only 1 Activation Charge , but you can gain up to 4 by learning the Sustained Focus perk in the Character panel.
Press Dodge to Dodge an incoming Attack. Choose the Dodge direction with Move Forward Move Left Move Backward Move Right. Dodge sideways or backward to evade the strike. Dodging toward the enemy will still get you hit.
Dodging is very effective against Unblockable Attacks.
You can perform a Perfect Dodge: just before being hit, Dodge in the direction of the incoming attack – left or right – to duck.
A Perfect Dodge doesn't cost stamina and creates an opening for an Attack. If the timing of the Perfect Dodge is correct but the direction is wrong, the Dodge still won't cost stamina.
There are two combat camera modes available:
Free Camera – the camera can be moved freely with Camera.
Locked Camera – the camera is locked onto the targeted enemy. You can change targets by moving Camera.
Press Lock Target to switch camera modes.
Use Shadowstep to reach distant places. Shadowstep is available only in the Vrakhir form.
• Hold Ability1 to aim.
• Move the camera with Camera.
• Release Ability1 to Shadowstep.
A quick tap of Ability1 lets you Shadowstep forward without aiming.
In the Inventory panel you can:
• Look through the items in your possession.
• Equip and unequip clothing and weapons.
• Assign Consumable items to Quickslots to enable their use in combat.
• Use Consumable items out of combat. Exception: On the Story Difficulty you can use all items freely.
• Check Coen's Statistics.
Quickslots are divided into Active Ability Quickslots and Consumable Quickslots.
You can toggle between them in combat by pressing Toggle Quickslots.
Items and abilities assigned to Quickslots can be used by pressing Left Quickslot, Top Quickslot, Right Quickslot, Bottom Quickslot.
Consumable Quickslots have a maximum number of items that can be used from a single Quickslot within one combat encounter. This number can be increased by learning the Medicus I perk.
Consumable Quickslots have Night and Day loadouts. Those can be set up in the Inventory panel.
Active Ability Quickslots have Night and Day loadouts as well. Those can be set up in the Active Abilities panel.
Time progresses as you complete Activities marked with .
You can track Time progression on the Time Bar, which is divided into eight Time Segments. When all Time Segments are filled, Day turns into Night, or vice versa.
If engaged, some activities will progress Time without your confirmation. Blinking Time Bar notifies about approaching such an activity.
It also shows the number of Time Segments that will be filled.
In the Journal panel you can:
• Look at your current Main Goal. It's up to you how to achieve it.
• Look at your Quests and their Objectives.
• Track Time with the Timeline at the bottom. shows how much Time has already passed. shows how much Time will pass when you complete your currently selected Quest Objective.
- an objective available only at Night.
- an objective available only during Day.
- a Time Sensitive objective. Ignoring it for too long will have consequences.
Focus Mode is useful for surveying your surroundings.
Hold Focus to enter Focus Mode.
Important things become highlighted in Focus Mode:
• Golden – quest related people or objects.
• Red – hostile characters.
• White – containers with loot or harvestable plants.
You can Fast Travel between discovered Shrines . Discover Shrines by exploring Vale Sangora.
To Fast Travel, interact with a Shrine , then select a destination Shrine on the map.
Most activities grant you Experience Points (XP). Once you've gathered enough, you Level Up.
Levelling Up grants you Skill Points, which you can spend to learn new Perks at Shrines .
Most Perks have multiple Levels. Each Level has its own effect and cost in Skill Points . Learning advanced Perks also progresses Time .
Some Perks require reading a Manual to make the Perk available to learn. You can find Manuals by exploring the world.
You can enter and exit Combat Stance by pressing DrawToggleSword.
While in Combat Stance, press WeaponSwitch to switch between your Claws/Fists and your Weapon.
Some Attacks can't be Blocked. During such Attacks, the enemy target indicator changes into .
Use Dodge Dodge to avoid Unblockable Attacks.
You can Craft strong Consumables in the Crafting panel. Unlike food, the effects of the Crafted Consumables are not reduced in combat.
Find new Recipes in the world to expand your Crafting potential.
Like all other Consumables, your Crafted Consumables can be assigned to Quickslots.
The only way to restore Health in the Vrakhir form is to Drink Blood.
• In combat, use Voracious Bite for a quick sip of the enemy.
• Outside of combat, use Voracious Bite to feed on unaware enemies or neutral creatures.
• You can also feed from Consumable blood vials in your inventory. To access a blood vial in combat, assign it to a Quickslot beforehand.
Exception: on the Story Difficulty, you can drink directly from the inventory anytime.
Planeshift allows you to walk on flat walls and ceilings. Planeshift is available only in the Vrakhir form.
To enter Planeshift, Shadowstep onto a flat wall or ceiling.
Walking while in Planeshift consumes Stamina. If you run out of Stamina while in Planeshift, you'll fall off the ceiling or enter Clawride if on a wall.
Clawride allows you to slide down a wall without losing Stamina. Clawride is available only in the Vrakhir form.
To enter Clawride, approach a ledge and press Crouch, or press Crouch while in Planeshift.
When Vampiric Health drops down to 1 Segment, you become Hungry and start to Crave Blood. While in this state, you may lose control during a conversation and drain the person you are talking to – even if you're friends.
Compel Soul allows you to extract information from the dead who still have a spark of soul within.
You can use Compel Soul with a Catalyst to extract specific memories. Catalysts are items of meaning to the deceased.
Compel Soul is a Witchcraft Ability and therefore accessible only in the Human form.
Scouting Towers allow you to scout the surrounding area and discover nearby activities.
Scouting Towers can be climbed only in the Vrakhiri form, as reaching the top requires using Shadowstep and Planeshift.
Some Quests may be too difficult at your current Level.

The same applies to enemies marked with , , and .
In the Court panel you can check which activities will disrupt the order established by Brencis and his boyars. Each activity is assigned to one of the 3 boyars, and after completing enough of them, you'll receive an opportunity to face the ruling vrakhir.
Disrupting the new order of Vale Sangora increases your Infamy. Each time you gain a new Infamy Level, Brencis will issue a new Edict that will make the world a little more hostile towards you.
You can check your current Infamy in the Court panel.
Posession of Silver is prohibited in Vale Sangora.
Only a few Vendors will buy it.
Haste abilities allow you to traverse the world with Supernatural Speed. They are Shapeshift in the Vrakhir form, and Mercurial Fervour in the Human form, respectively.
Shapeshift can be learned in the Vampirism section of the Character panel.
Mercurial Fervour can be learned in the Witchcraft section of the Character panel.
Astral Communion allows you to activate dormant magic in places of power. It summons powerful Astral entities that pose a significant Challenge but also bring Rewards.
Astral Communion is a Witchcraft Ability and therefore available only in the Human form.
Some weapons, clothing, and consumables can be great in one form and useless in the other.
You can prepare separate Presets of equipment in the Inventory panel for both Human and Vampire forms. The presets change automatically at the beginning of each Day and Night.
Quickslots are a part of Presets.
Press SwitchLoadout to toggle the preview of Presets.
When you exceed your Inventory Weight Limit, you become Overencumbered. In this state you can't run or use Fast Travel.
To reduce the Weight of your Inventory, Sell, Destroy, or stash some items in Storage, which you can access from every Shrine .
Bracers and Weapons with Weapon and Claw Arts offer unique ways to deal damage on a Cooldown. Weapon and Claw Arts deal increased damage and may have additional effects. They differ from item to item. Experiment to find those that suit your playstyle.
Press Block + Attack to trigger Weapon and Claw Arts.
A Weapon Art from a Weapon can be performed only while using that Weapon, while a Claw Art from Bracers can be performed only while fighting with Claws.
