After venturing into a dark cave I encountered some big, nasty thing. I have to slay this monster.

Not the cosiest place to enter, but nonetheless – I should take a look around.

Search for the nest near Shrike's Crag
According to the crudely drawn map I found in the cave, another silver shard should be in the monster's nest somewhere near Shrike's Crag.

Search for a sword shard near Shrike's Crag
If the map I found was accurate, I should look for one of the shards somewhere near Shrike's Crag.
Possible endings
Depending on your choices the quest ends differently – with different rewards. A playthrough only reaches one of the endings.
Ending 1 (spoiler)
I was able to retrieve a silver shard. And defeated a rather nasty creature in the process.
Failed (spoiler)
In the end, I never followed through on this.
