Charge Manual

“I couldn’t believe my ears. Charge? Most of us agreed that we should try to hunker down in one of the hovels, maybe we could defend ourselves until Vaclav’s retinue got to us. But Miloslav said: ‘If we charge now, we might surprise them. Make a break for it. Or maybe even win this thing’. I wanted to say ‘no’, but there was something in his voice…”

“We readied ourselves and quickly got moving. There was no real plan here, we just wanted to rush the fuckers and take down as many of them as possible. We knew we were going to die – which was preferable to getting into Tatar hands. So we ran at them, our swords brandished, screaming at the top of our lungs.”

“The day was ours. As Miloslav predicted, the Tatars hadn't expected us to attack so directly. We rushed into them as they were forming their ranks and sent them into chaos – in fact, we were able to use the momentum to knock many of them to the ground. They never got up again. We survived, all thanks to a reckless idea. Still, God has a weird sense of humour – we only lost one man in this skirmish. Miloslav. May he rest in peace.”
