Key facts at a glance

  • On November 3, 2026, shortly before Early Access, XLGAMES announced two changes for ArcheAge Chronicles.
  • The game adds machine-translated text in Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese; neither language is officially supported.
  • The language can be changed in game under Options > General > Language.
  • Steam Family Sharing is not supported, so every player needs their own copy.

Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese via machine translation

In response to community feedback asking for more language options, XLGAMES decided to add machine-translated text in Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese. The developer stresses that these languages are not officially supported at this time. The goal is to help more players around the world understand and enjoy the game.

XLGAMES warns that, due to the nature of machine translation, some expressions, in-game terminology or context may be inaccurate or sound unnatural. To switch languages, open Options > General > Language in game.

The extra languages are meant to open the world of ArcheAge Chronicles to more players.

No Steam Family Sharing

ArcheAge Chronicles does not support Steam Family Sharing. XLGAMES explains that in an MMORPG many players share the same world, and sharing accounts through Family Sharing could affect account management and the in-game economy. Excluding it is meant to keep the game stable and fair.

For households this means everyone who wants to play needs a purchase on their own Steam account. Since there are no server transfers during Early Access either, groups should agree on a server before launch; see our story on server transfers and cross-server play.
