ArcheAge Chronicles: launch issues, ready fixes and workarounds

by RaidDex Team · Published:

Key facts at a glance

  • On November 4, 2026, the ArcheAge Chronicles team listed the main issues from Early Access launch day and apologized to affected players.
  • Fixes are ready for tutorial quests that cannot be completed and bosses that stop spawning after you leave and return. The deployment date is still to be announced.
  • Under investigation: the Malchuk encounter, NPC dialogue that blocks quests, and dungeon groups that get stuck after the party disbands.
  • Planned: freely rebindable movement keys, an option to hide the chat and an easier channel transfer to your party. Linux and Steam Deck are not officially supported for now.

Ready fixes and open investigations

The team says launch day brought a large number of reports through Discord, Steam Discussions and other channels. Two issues are already fixed and waiting for the next update: some players could not progress through certain tutorial quests, and in some boss encounters the boss stopped spawning after leaving the area and returning. The update will include further fixes, with full details once it is live.

Boss encounters were among the spots that caused trouble at launch.

The cause of two issues is still unknown: after dying in the Malchuk encounter the boss may not reappear or players cannot respawn, and talking to NPCs in some areas, including Cliffs of Madness, can block quest progress. If this happens to you, report the details in the Discord bug reports channel. Every boss and dungeon is on our Bosses & Dungeons page.

Workarounds for now: keep your party together

If the party leader leaves or the party disbands during a dungeon, progression can get blocked and you may not reach the next area. The team says a fix may take some time because of how the issue is built. Until then, keep your party together until everyone has moved on after the dungeon. Some key items are not shared, so each member needs their own key.

Stay grouped in dungeons until everyone has reached the next area.

If your character is stuck in the terrain, press ESC and choose Escape. If that fails, restart the game, log in again and try Escape once more. If the game hangs while the anti-cheat starts, take a screenshot and open a ticket with Customer Support, which you can also reach in-game through ESC.

Planned improvements

Many players want more freedom when rebinding movement keys, and the team plans to make them fully reassignable as soon as possible. The current layout is on our Key Bindings page. Chat in unwanted languages can already be filtered under Settings > Game Options > Chat Language Filter, and an option to hide the chat window entirely is planned. The channel transfer button in the party UI will show up more often and come with clearer guidance.

Some crashes will be addressed in the next patch. Stuttering and frame drops depend heavily on each PC, so optimization will continue throughout Early Access. Linux and Steam Deck are not officially supported for now, and more languages are still being evaluated. For everything about the launch, see our Early Access launch story.

FAQ

When is the patch for the launch issues coming?

The fixes for tutorial quests and missing bosses are done, but no date has been announced yet.

What should I do if I am stuck in the terrain?

Press ESC and choose Escape. If that does not work, restart the game, log in and try again.

Does ArcheAge Chronicles run on Steam Deck?

Linux and Steam Deck are not officially supported at this time. The team will evaluate support later.

Why can't I progress after a dungeon?

If the party leader leaves or the party disbands, progression can get blocked. Stay together until everyone is in the next area.
