The Witcher 4 Price and Pre-Order: How Much Will The Witcher IV Cost?
How much The Witcher 4 will cost is not known yet: CD PROJEKT RED has announced neither a price nor editions, and the game cannot be pre-ordered anywhere (as of October 30, 2026). The only confirmed point is that there will be a physical box with extras.

Where things stand
How much will The Witcher 4 cost?
CD PROJEKT RED has not named a price. Michał Nowakowski did talk about pricing in an interview with The Game Business in September 2026, but in general terms: pricing, he said, is the real challenge for the industry. No figure for The Witcher 4 was given.
Earlier statements do not give an amount either. On the investor call in March 2025, the company said that if the standard market price for games went up, it would certainly work in the studio’s favor. That describes a stance, not a price. The claim that CDPR has confirmed $80 for The Witcher 4 is false; the $80 figure comes from the debate around other big games. More in the rumor check.
What can be said: Nowakowski stresses that The Witcher 4 is not a cost-driven project. If you want to make a game like The Witcher 4, he said, cost cannot be your first priority. The company does not disclose budgets; the often-quoted figure of around $800 million is an analyst estimate.

The physical box with extras
The only firm statement about editions concerns the packaging: The Witcher 4 will get a box. Nowakowski said in late August 2026 that there would “for sure” be a box, and one with “feelies” in it. That is the term for physical extras, like the ones CD PROJEKT RED included with The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, such as maps or stickers. The studio has not said what exactly will be in the box.
Nowakowski explained this with the studio’s stance: it is a big fan of players having access to tangible collectible things. Whether there will be a collector’s edition with a statue or an art book alongside the standard box has not been announced.

A box without a disc? Sony’s exit from 2028
Whether the PlayStation box will contain a disc is out of CD PROJEKT RED’s hands. In July 2026, Sony announced that it will stop manufacturing discs for new PlayStation games from January 2028. If The Witcher 4 launches in 2028 as planned, its release would fall after that point.
Nowakowski said the studio has no influence over this. If Sony really stops manufacturing by 2028, then there will be no disc. The studio has not made a separate statement about discs for PC or Xbox.

Game Pass, PS Plus and expansions
Anyone hoping to play The Witcher 4 through a subscription at launch will probably be disappointed. Nowakowski told investors in March 2025 that the studio is “definitely not fans” of including its titles in subscription services of any kind at launch. For Game Pass, PS Plus and similar services, that means: not planned at launch.
Don’t expect a season pass either. In May 2026, Nowakowski said it would be difficult to add an expansion to the upcoming trilogy. The reason is the schedule: all three games are meant to come out within six years of The Witcher 4. More under new saga.

Age rating: USK pending
The Witcher 4 does not have an age rating yet. The German version of thewitcher.com/witcher4 shows the USK logo marked “pending” in its footer. There is no rating from PEGI or the ESRB either.
The reveal trailer gives a hint: YouTube has age-restricted the main version, which can only be watched while signed in. In Germany, The Witcher 3 was rated 16 and Cyberpunk 2077 was rated 18. The USK will only decide on The Witcher 4’s rating after reviewing the finished game.

Be careful with retailer listings
Some retailers already list The Witcher 4 with placeholders, such as a price of $0 or a date like December 31, 2027. Listings like these are not official. Retailers create them to catch search traffic; they say nothing about the price or the date.
Only information from CD PROJEKT RED itself and the official store pages, once they exist, can be relied on. When pre-orders open, it will appear here and on the overview. The latest on the date is under release date, and on platforms under platforms.
What CD PROJEKT RED says about the box, price and subscriptions

“If you want a cost-driven development, you cannot make a game like The Witcher 4.”
“We’re definitely not fans of including our titles in the subscription services of any kind at launch.”
