ArcheAge Chronicles: Producer on Early Access, Updates and Roadmap

by RaidDex Team · Published:

Key facts at a glance

  • XLGAMES released a roughly 14-minute interview with Executive Producer Ham about ArcheAge Chronicles on October 31, 2026.
  • Early Access, starting November 3, 2026, is meant to work like an extended closed test; the content volume is smaller than planned, but Ham says the adventure content still takes over 50 hours.
  • Hotfixes will ship weekly or even daily depending on severity, while bigger additions such as removing gender locks and third weapons should arrive roughly monthly.
  • A roadmap will only be shared after players have played Early Access.
  • The planned English voice-over is on hold; most languages are to be fully translated by full release.

From ArcheAge to Chronicles

Ham describes ArcheAge Chronicles as a fresh attempt built on lessons from the original ArcheAge and a project that did not work out. Over years of live service, the original MMORPG became too hardcore, with faction imbalance a constant topic. A follow-up project codenamed X4, which leaned toward co-op and relaxed solo play, failed. The key takeaway was that a persistent open world matters more to an MMO than instanced content.

A persistent open world was the starting point for Chronicles, according to Ham.

Chronicles therefore combines action combat and solo adventures with a shared world full of other players. Ham admits the blend can feel unfamiliar at first. The team deliberately put simple, intuitive systems up front and aimed to change only about 20 to 30 percent compared to what players know. The game should work for someone logging in briefly each day as well as for someone playing for a week straight. One example of that compromise: the roughly 500 treasure chests in the world belong to each player individually. The world and systems page covers how these pieces fit together.

Early Access as an extended test

Early Access takes the place of the long closed betas of older MMOs. For a buy-to-play game, keeping open tests running for months is hardly realistic, Ham explains, but Early Access lets the team validate its concept with players over a longer stretch. He considers the quality solid and says the volume is smaller than originally planned. Because so much of the game is adventure content, his own replay still took more than 50 hours.

Boss fights in action combat are part of the adventure content Ham puts at over 50 hours.

Preparations are on schedule and most technical issues have been resolved, he says. Launch timing and other details are collected on the release page.

Updates, roadmap and localization

XLGAMES promises a fast update cadence once Early Access begins. Hotfixes will land weekly or even daily depending on how critical an issue is. Larger additions such as lifting class gender locks and the third weapons are planned on a roughly monthly rhythm. The team has intentionally held back a fixed roadmap so it can be discussed with players after they have tried Early Access, and Ham expects development to speed up from there.

New class options and third weapons are planned on a roughly monthly cadence.

On localization, Ham says an English voice-over with well-known actors was largely recorded but could not be used at short notice, which is why the game ships with Korean voice acting. With players from many countries taking part, provisional translations will be added first, and the goal is full translations for most languages by full release.

FAQ

How long is ArcheAge Chronicles in Early Access?

Executive Producer Ham says the volume is smaller than planned, but a run through the adventure content took him more than 50 hours.

How often will ArcheAge Chronicles get updates?

Hotfixes are planned weekly or even daily depending on severity, with larger additions such as third weapons and the end of gender locks arriving roughly monthly.

Is there an ArcheAge Chronicles Early Access roadmap?

Not yet. XLGAMES wants to discuss the roadmap with players once they have played Early Access, which starts November 3, 2026.

Does ArcheAge Chronicles have English voice acting?

Not for now. The planned English voice-over could not be used, so the game has Korean voice acting, and full translations for most languages are targeted for full release.
