Gathering and Professions in ArcheAge Chronicles: where to find ore, wood and herbs

by RaidDex Team · Published: Nov 1, 2026 · Updated: Nov 4, 2026

No materials, no crafting: if you want to make weapons, armor, tools or workstations in ArcheAge Chronicles, you need ore, wood and plants. Our database lists 26 gathering nodes – from Dark Vein to Mature Tree – and the world map can show every spot of any single node type at once. This guide covers which tool you need, where each resource is concentrated in the three Early Access regions (Diamond Shores, Gylden Ruins and Astron Plains), which tree species grows where and how the 15 professions fit together.

The three tools and what gathering costs

Every node belongs to a profession and requires a tool. According to our gathering node pages, the same rules apply to all of them: each gather costs 100 SP, and harvested spots respawn after 3 to 5 minutes. Since Early Access launched, gathering is noticeably more expensive – it used to be 50 SP and 30 seconds to 3 minutes. So plan your route through dense clusters instead of chasing single spots.

  • Pick: for ore and stone, profession Mining. The basic Pickaxe comes from a chest, and general merchants sell another one for 400 Gold.
  • Sickle: for herbs and plants, profession Gathering. 21 merchants sell the Harvesting Sickle for 400 Gold, Avon in Seaglass Harbor among them – though its description calls it fragile.
  • Hatchet: for every tree, also Gathering. The basic Logging Axe comes from a chest, just like the Pickaxe, and general merchants also sell one for 400 Gold.

The durable Expert versions (item level 6, Uncommon) show up early as quest rewards: the side quest Hands to Spare for Rufus the lumberjack gives the Expert Logging Axe plus two rucksacks (Bluesalt Rucksack and Hauler’s Bluesalt Rucksack), and per our item pages the main quest Pier Patrol in Seaglass Harbor rewards the Expert Pickaxe, Expert Logging Axe and Expert Harvesting Sickle.

Mining: Dark Vein, Rock and Archeum

There are only three mining nodes, and every spot lies in the three Early Access regions. Dark Veins cluster in Diamond Shores, Rock and Archeum in the Gylden Ruins – bring your pick whenever you head there. The region column lists the spots per region.

The items tell you what you get: per its description, Iron Ore is mined from ore veins, Marble from rocks, and Archeum Shard is found in veins all over Auroria. Since Early Access launched, enemies no longer drop Archeum Shards and disassembly hardly gives them anymore – Archeum nodes and chests are now the main source.

Herbs and plants

Plants are harvested with the sickle. They are far more common than ore, with Yarrow, Roseberry Bush and Lily at several thousand spots each – almost all of them in the three Early Access regions.

Wildfiber Herb and Wildfiber Bloom yield Wild Fiber for fabric, while wildflowers give Wild Petal for additives. Roseberry Bush needs no tool at all. The most common plant is Yarrow in Diamond Shores, Roseberry Bush in the Gylden Ruins and Lily in the Astron Plains.

Wood: trees by species

In the game, every tree is simply called Young Tree or Mature Tree. To help you find the right ones, RaidDex tells them apart by species – the species names are our description, not in-game names. You chop all of them with the hatchet, and they yield Log. Many species grow mostly in regions that are still locked in Early Access. The table therefore shows how many spots lie in Diamond Shores, Gylden Ruins and Astron Plains, sorted by that number.

Fir and pine are the most common trees in the whole world, but they mostly grow in Land of Gon, Great Prairie, Vatic Shores and Sleeping Land. In Early Access, beech is the most important source of wood, and most beeches grow in the Gylden Ruins. Chestnut grows almost only in the Astron Plains, and elm is practically absent from the three open regions.

Tip: Open the world map and pick a node type under “Gathering nodes” on the right. The map then shows every spot of that type at once – handy for planning a route through dense clusters.

The 15 professions at a glance

Our professions overview sorts the 15 professions into three groups. Every profession with levels has five of them, and they unlock more recipes and bonuses – which ones, and the manual you level up with, are listed there per profession. What you make at which station, and where the stations stand, is on our Crafting page.

GroupProfessions
ProductionMining, Gathering, Butchering, Farming, Exploration
RefiningSmelting, Refining, Wildcraft, Cloth, Food
CraftingSmithing, Tailoring, Engineering, Alchemy, Cooking

The refining professions spell out what each level does: Lv2 unlocks Apprentice Recipes at the Workbench, Lv3 Station Recipes, Lv4 Expert Recipes in the Workshop and Lv5 Profession Recipes. The crafting professions are big: Smithing has 60 recipes (Weapon Workbench), Tailoring 48 (Armor Workbench and Light Armor Workbench), Engineering 32 and Alchemy 22.

Tip: Every recipe with materials, cost and level is listed by profession under Crafting – along with the stations and their locations per region, such as the Kitchen for Food in eight places. Bonuses and level-ups per profession are in the professions overview.

From raw material to crafting material

Your haul gets refined before it goes into crafting. You know the first recipes from the start. Each costs 100 Gold and needs, besides three raw materials, five Sweetgrass Powder (10 Gold at general merchants) and five Shattered Blade or Rag Scrap.

Special nodes

  • Suspicious Rock: despite the name, not ore but a Gathering node for the sickle. 522 spots, mostly in Diamond Shores (299) and the Astron Plains (174). On the map
  • Sea Mushroom Coral: also a sickle node, 482 spots, centered on Diamond Shores (302). On the map
  • Clam: the rarest node with only 66 spots, gathered without a tool, mostly in the Gylden Ruins (30). On the map

For more on the starting region, read our Diamond Shores overview. All areas are listed under Zones & places.
