by RaidDex Team · Published: Oct 19, 2026 · Updated: Oct 19, 2026

In Path of Exile 2, quests and trials give you 26 passive skill points, 25 weapon set points and 8 ascendancy points (as of patch 0.5.5) – on top of the points from levelling up. 24 of the 26 passive points come from twelve rewards in Acts 1 to 4 and the Interlude, each worth +2 passive skill points and +2 weapon set points. Ascendancy points come in four sets of 2 from the Ascension Trials – the first 4 already in Act 2 and Act 3.

How many points you have in total

  • Passive skill points: up to 125 – 99 from levelling up and 26 from quests.
  • Weapon set points: 25, all from quests and the campaign. You can allocate them differently in each of your weapon set passive trees, including your default passive tree.
  • Ascendancy points: 8, in four sets of 2. You allocate them in your Ascendancy tree once you have chosen your Ascendancy.

Skip one of the twelve rewards and you are 2 passive points and 2 weapon set points short.

Ascension Trials: which trial, and when

The Trial of the Sekhemas and the Trial of Chaos are the Ascension Trials. Completing an Ascension Trial unlocks your Ascendancy class. The 8 ascendancy points come in four sets of 2, and each set can be earned in either trial:

The Trial of Chaos gets longer with area level: 4 rooms from area level 1, 7 from 60 and 10 from 75. In the Trial of the Sekhemas you place a Barya in the Relic Altar to begin; each floor has its own Barya. For the Trial of Chaos you place an Inscribed Ultimatum in the Temple Offering at the Temple of Chaos.

Sets 1 and 2 fall into the campaign (Acts 2 and 3); sets 3 and 4 need area level 60 and 75 – waystones start at tier 1 with area level 65. Rooms, bosses and modifiers are listed under the endgame trials, the Ascendancies themselves under Classes & Ascendancies.

Tip: tick the points off in the campaign

On the campaign page you can tick off completed quests and collected bonuses. The Permanent rewards only filter shows just the spots with points and bonuses. Ticks are saved in your browser, synced across devices with an account, and also apply in the quest list and on the area pages.

Four of the rewards come from bosses: The Crowbell, Kabala, Mighty Silverfist and Oswin. On the campaign page they are listed with their area under “Don’t miss”.

Plan your points in the Build Planner

The Build Planner counts up to 125 passive points, 25 weapon set points and 8 ascendancy points. You set which campaign bonuses you already have in the stats bar. In the passive tree view you pick a class and hover a node to see the shortest path and the points from the start.
