- Nicholas: Me? I'm a scholar. Or more specifically...a man utterly fascinated by gnolls. A gnoll expert, if you will.
- Nicholas: Gnolls may look like mere beasts, but they have a surprisingly complex ecology of their own.
- Nicholas: The leader of the gnolls here is one called "Sak the Hunger Fiend." Recently, he fought the pack on the eastern side over territory.
- Nicholas: And he lost the struggle. Poor creature... (chuckle)
- What are you doing here?
- Nicholas: I've been observing the cave he's holed up in. You see, it isn't an ordinary mine.
- Nicholas: There was once a relic in this region known as Black Iron. It's gone now, but its influence seeped into the land itself.
- Nicholas: I just can't stop wondering what he's doing at a place like this.
- Nicholas: Could you do me a favor?

- Nicholas: Investigate his condition for me, will you? I have a feeling there's something extraordinary there.
