Look around, and ye shall see that breath is the fuel which brings the world forth. Humans and animals must draw air, or else they perish. Plants and fungi breathe too – listen closely, and ye shall know this to be true. The Earth itself inhales and exhales, sending forth winds and gales. In and out, light and darkness, so it has been, is, and shall be forever – not just in our realm, but on all other planes, too.
Spiritus Ater, part 2
Magic, though immaterial and intangible, is just as dependent on the breath. Only not the regular kind, drawn through your lungs. No, to keep the energy flowing, you must learn to breathe the aether using your very mind. Focus on the markings on your skin, and ye shall feel it come forth, like gusts of wind whistling through a crevice.
Spiritus Ater, part 3
At first, the aether will come as it pleases, in a slow rhythm, like a calm sea lapping at the beach. But a skilled practitioner of the arcane can demand more of it, agitate it, pull at it. Soon, the aether will flow like a mountain stream, babbling and splashing. But be aware: he who drinks too greedily may choke to his death.
