ArcheAge Chronicles Classes: Warrior, Ranger, Berserker and Mage Explained

by RaidDex Team · Published: · Updated:

At a glance

  • Four classes: Warrior, Ranger, Berserker and Mage
  • Two weapons per class: every weapon has its own skills – five per weapon, ten per class
  • Fixed character: at Early Access each class is locked to one gender
  • Try them yourself: all four classes are playable with both weapons in the free Steam Next Fest demo (October 19 to 26)
  • Most popular class in the June focus group test: the Mage, ahead of Ranger, Warrior and Berserker

Which classes are in ArcheAge Chronicles?

XLGAMES revealed four classes between July and September 2026. Each carries the legacy of a known figure from the world of ArcheAge and fights with two weapons. The weapon decides your skills – switch weapons and you play differently. Combat is action-based: dodge, parry, counter. Skills cost SP, and many fill an enemy status gauge for Bleed, Burn, Shock or Freeze.

Warrior: the front line

“Hold the Line. Break the Enemy.” – according to XLGAMES, the Warrior’s raw power rivals their impeccable defense. They carry the legacy of Kyrios, the God of Destruction.

The Warrior holds the front line with a longsword or greatsword.
  • Longsword: two playstyles. Either timing and control with Parry and Closing Slash – or the “path of blood”: Crimson Surge spends your own HP and drains it back with every hit.
  • Greatsword: endurance and force. You build Resolve, withstand attacks with Brace and unload it with Unbridled Might or Rampage.

A good fit if you like standing in front and playing around timing. All ten skills: Warrior in ArcheAge Chronicles.

Ranger: the hunt at any range

“Hunt Without Limits.” – according to XLGAMES, the Ranger is “far more than a mere archer”: they control the distance to the target. Their role model is Tahyang, Hero of the Firran.

ArcheAge Chronicles: the Ranger with her bow and quiver
The Ranger hunts at any range.
  • Hatchet: lightning-fast melee with lightning. Stormsplitter evades and strikes, Wind Blade and Storm Chaser follow up after a counter.
  • Longbow: mark a target and finish it – with Rapid Fire, Aimed Shot and Ice Arrow, which immobilizes. Crescent Kick counters and regains distance.

A good fit if you want to stay mobile and switch between melee and range. All ten skills: Ranger in ArcheAge Chronicles.

Berserker: break through the lines

“Break Through. Never Break.” – according to XLGAMES, the Berserker is “the first to charge into battle, and the last to leave it”. They carry the legacy of Shyagon, the God of Abundance.

The Berserker breaks through enemy lines – concept art on the left, in-game model on the right.
  • Axe and shield: charge and endure. Reel In pulls enemies in with a chain, Brutal Crash and Ridge Shatter reduce damage taken, Reckless Destroyer builds Bleed.
  • Warhammer: fire and thunder. Tempered Blow charges the Meteor Hammer, Galactic Impact and Resonating Strike release the power.

A good fit if you want to be in the thick of it, absorb hits and strengthen your party. All ten skills: Berserker in ArcheAge Chronicles.

Mage: fire, lightning and ice

“Gather Power. Unleash Everything.” – the Mage charges spells, retains them and controls enemies by freezing them. Their role model is Aranzeb, the Last King of the Elves.

The Mage commands fire, lightning and ice.
  • Elemental Staff: casting from range. Wall of Fire and Lightning Storm need a full charge; Retain lets you use a spell a second time. Ten stacks of Energy Core call down Shooting Star for massive area damage.
  • Wavesword: melee with ice and energy blades. Glacial Burst and Thundersnow freeze, Frost Shard follows up at no SP cost.

A good fit if you like to plan ahead and enjoy area damage – and still want to hold your own up close. All ten skills: Mage in ArcheAge Chronicles.

Which class suits me?

  • You want to stand in front and play around timing: Warrior with the longsword
  • You want to hit hard and take a lot: Warrior with the greatsword or Berserker

  • You want to protect your party and pull enemies in: Berserker with axe and shield
  • You want area damage and to freeze enemies: Mage

All four classes side by side with role, playstyle and weapons are in our class comparison. Best of all, try them yourself: all classes are playable with both weapons in the Steam Next Fest demo – dates and content are on our release and demo page.
