Welcome to Leonida
GTA VI returns to Vice City – for the first time since Vice City Stories in 2006. But the city is only one part of Leonida. Rockstar has shown six regions so far:
- Vice City (inspired by Miami) – “The ’80s are long gone, but Vice City is still America’s capital of sun and fun.” Known spots: Ocean Beach, Little Cuba, Tisha-Wocka and the VC Port.
- Leonida Keys (inspired by the Florida Keys) – a tropical island chain where life isn’t glamorous, but it is easy. Jason lives here.
- Grassrivers (inspired by the Everglades) – wetlands full of alligators, mangroves and airboats.
- Port Gellhorn (inspired by Florida’s Gulf Coast) – cheap motels, shuttered attractions and empty strip malls.
- Ambrosia – an inland industrial town where American industry and old-fashioned values still rule.
- Mount Kalaga National Park – woods and hills on the state’s northern border.
Rockstar hasn’t said how big the map is. Figures circulating online are estimates based on the trailers. Every region with images and characters: Leonida: every location.
Jason and Lucia
For the first time in the main series, a couple takes center stage. Rockstar sums up the story like this: Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. When an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across Leonida – and have to rely on each other more than ever.
- Lucia Caminos learned to fight from her father. Fighting for her family landed her in the Leonida Penitentiary; fresh out, she wants the good life her mother has dreamed of since their days in Liberty City.
- Jason Duval grew up around grifters and joined the Army to leave that behind. He ended up in the Keys working for drug runners. Meeting Lucia could be the best or worst thing that ever happened to him.
The Extended Look on August 27 showed how playing two characters works: when they are together you switch at the press of a button; when they are apart the switch takes a few seconds. More under gameplay.
