Fragment of a study: "(...) until now attempts to incorporate AI into combat implants and weapons are limited solely to user support functions - gathering and providing information, automating use, etc.
But what if a given implant or weapon was not only AI-supported, but was an actual AI itself? Said weapon could then become the user's partner - a member of a combat unit, a genie trapped in a deadly bottle - a technological miracle that could make its own decisions, freeing up the user's mental capacity to focus on other tasks. A dream of the future? Seemingly. Though that future is near.
(...)There is no denying that current efforts to "embody" AI - whether neutralized or in full control - in implants and weapons are considered potentially hazardous and ethically problematic. If any such research is taking place in the laboratories of megacorporations, then they are surely being done in secret."
