"NIGHTINGALE" – TOP SECRET
""NIGHTINGALE" – TOP SECRET" – email from Cyberpunk 2077. Nightingale is a device designed to stimulate brainwaves neural oscillation for behavioral control on a mass scale using transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) technology.

Nightingale is a device designed to stimulate brainwaves neural oscillation for behavioral control on a mass scale using transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) technology.
Already in the early 21st century researchers demonstrated the capability of TMS in influencing subject behavior (e.g. reducing compulsive behaviors). However, these studies were limited to possible clinical applications, while the potential of TMS for active behavioral manipulation was tested only on animal subjects.
The Nightingale project aims to analyze whether TMS – applied via hidden emitters rather than via electromagnetic coils as before – can be used in social engineering applications.
Preliminary results have proved promising. The first experiment was performed on a sample of 100 unaware individuals selected from a marginalized subset of society, often dubbed "nomads." With the help of the Nightingale emitters, it proved possible to significantly reduce the frequency of aggressive behaviors. For example, we noted a 23% reduction in physical altercations compared to a similar span of time prior to the experiment phase. Despite these promising findings, the Nightingale prototype caused severe side effects. In the test group, after one week of TMS treatment, 90 individuals suffered a stroke, 70 of which died soon after.
Nightingale technology undoubtedly requires further study, but at, at the very least, this experiment has clearly demonstrated the tremendous potential for TMS in market applications.
