Merik is an NPC (level 1) in Pioneer's Assembly Hall, Diamond Shores.

1. Merik: These "honorable" council members only ever think about pleasing the Alliance.
2. Merik: We settlers built this land... Damn it, maybe I should just quit and join the Independents.
3. Beric: And end up like that woman from the Crossroads Union? Always on the run?
4. Merik: She's a noble—she can keep running. We'd be caught and lose our heads within a day.
5. Beric: Guess all we can do is sit here and complain... Maybe next time they'll actually hear one of our proposals.
