Meliot is beyond saving. He has taken refuge in a fortress overrun by gnolls, cowering like a frightened cur. Before that, he apparently ambushed a passing caravan and made off with its supplies, but those won't last him long.
I'll return to the ranch once I've seen Meliot die with my own eyes.
P.S. As I mentioned in the letter I sent through the smuggler some time ago, I believe you should keep a close watch on that pioneer as well.
