I say this with love, but please stop coming to visit me. If you do, I won’t show up.
Know that sounds cruel, but every visit tears the wound open again. For 15 minutes I get to remember what my life felt like outside this place, and then they take it away all over again. After every visit I spend weeks chasing those memories instead of building the strength I need to survive in here.
Need you to fight hard to stay away. I’ll keep fighting too, I promise. But I need to focus on getting through tomorrow, not dreaming about yesterday or a future I may never see. It’s my only chance.
Tell the kids I love them.
