Night City and the Corporate Wars

NIGHT CITY AND THE CORPORATE WARS. One scorching day on the 20th of August, 2023 a group of terrorists – wanting to escalate already rising tensions in an era of frequent corporate wars – detonated a nuclear bomb in Corporate Plaza. Twelve thousand innocent people died that day, tens of thousands died in the aftermath of the attack, and many more were injured and exposed to harmful radiation. The most painful blow to society's already bleeding heart was the loss of Arasaka Tower – a defining landmark of Night City's panorama – which was completely leveled. Its fall also caused many other nearby buildings to crumble, reducing the City Center to ashes. Working in tandem with corporate security forces, local authorities worked night and day to the save as many lives as possible. Two million homeless victims were evacuated to the nearby districts of Heywood, Watson and Pacifica. Through emergency powers, the city council enacted special decisions that undoubtedly saved millions of people from lethal radioactive waste. In spite of these heroic efforts, the scale of the destruction was immense. It would take a decade for Night City to return to normal...
