Night City – A New Era

NIGHT CITY – A NEW ERA. In the 2060s, Night City's rapid development tempted external forces to seize the city for their own gain. In 2069, the reformed New United States of America's (NUSA) imperialist ambitions led them to attack the Free States, including North California. Most states, taken by surprise by the NUSA's wanton and brutal aggression, swiftly surrendered. Only the western states and Texas retained their autonomy. Meanwhile, Night Citizens prepared for an invasion by the federal forces, and indeed, in 2070 an NUSA army division mounted an assault on the city's outskirts. Thankfully, disaster was averted due to the quick-thinking and action taken by Night City's mayor, Lucius Rhyne. Rhyne, thanks to contacts he made over a decade in the city council, requested help from the former corporatio non grata – Arasaka. In a matter of days, an Arasaka aircraft carrier sailed into the Coronado bay, and only a few hours later the NUSA forces retreated. Night City was free once again!
