Dear Miss Albach,
I regret to inform you that we will not be able to complete the cabinets you ordered on schedule. Our varnisher was shot yesterday and is in the hospital – it'll take a least a week for him to return to work. I hope this does not inconvenience you greatly. Once again, my sincerest apologies.

RE: Delay
Actually, it is a pretty big inconvenience. According to our contract (art. 5, par. 6, sub. iii) I have the right to charge you a penalty for each day of delay, and don't think I won't act on it. That sob story about your varnisher doesn't work on me. Hire another one – I don't care.
