Corporate espionage and convert operations. By now it's an open secret that every corporation hires specialists in intelligence, counterintelligence, industrial sabotage and even anti-terrorism (ironically the latter involves methods that are usually terroristic in practice). Corporate armed operations can sometimes number up to hundreds of individuals, including tactical and strategic consultants, netrunners, former diplomats, former or bought-out government officials and, of course, contractors who make sure that corporations have enough boots on the ground in the form of mercenaries or soldiers on loan from other corporations (Arasaka, Militech). When inter-corporate conflicts become serious and armed force is thrown into the mix, that's when we talk about corporate wars – conducted largely in the shadows beyond the jurisdiction of governments, and usually fought with calculated, surgical precision – often ending as abruptly as they started.
