After the farm went bankrupt and Nele's parents were forced to sell their land to Biotechnica, Springer moved to Night City. A moderate payout from a compensation fund for the children of relocated farmers enabled her to study chemistry. The university, as it turned out, was a breeding ground for revolutionary initiatives - and excellent hunting ground for recruiters of various dubious organizations.
When the Crimson Harvest offered Nele to join its ranks, she didn't hesitate for a second. Yet she never stopped feeling like a stranger in the mega city - and although she was a brilliant student, she was tormented by the thought her degree was bought with her parents' blood. Sabotaging Biotechnica seemed the perfect way of alleviating her remorse. Then reality caught up to her.
