In a city that chews up the tender-hearted, Aera somehow remains warm, curious and stubbornly hopeful. Born and raised in the dust-choked sprawl of Rancho Coronado, she never fit the Night City mold. Even under the pressure of constant poverty, Aera faithfully believed that most people are, at their core, decent. She inherited this perspective from her parents – folk who led quiet lives, worked long shifts and had clean records. But honest living earns no mercy in Night City.
By her twenties, both of Aera’s loving parents had died, leaving only her older sister, Hazel – a loud, impulsive activist who often picked fights with miserable odds. Although she often drives Aera crazy, she's also the only person left to keep her grounded. Aera wants to believe the world can become a better place, that the good in people will one day triumph. Although this hope burns in her still, the brightest lights can’t shine forever.
